I love the feeling of plunging my hands in layers of soft fabrics and smelling the heady dyes and feeling the textures of smooth satins, slippery chiffons to the harsh cottons and the luxurious plush of velvets, whilst playing with dyes, threads and paints to create the perfect piece. This love of textiles comes from my childhood, playing with my mother's extensive collection of vintage fashions, mixed with wonderful afternoons sitting in our garden in England discussing philosophy with my father. After moving to Australia I met incredibly creative people who have encouraged me to develop and exhibit my own distinct style of art, this has now blossomed into creating my own textiles to convey the emotions I am expressing in each art piece. Every art piece has layers upon layers of meaning with the love of the fabric being the passion and driving force with a question or observation of life embedded within the works. More...
I have painted all my life and also ventured into many different areas of art. During the 1980’s and 90’s I had many solo and joint exhibitions and have sold most of my paintings during this period. For a while after this my health was so bad that I was unable to participate in the “Art World” but I kept painting and making art at a slower rate. I was sadly unable to finish my degree in art from the ANU due to my Multiple Sclerosis, but the years spent there have helped my art so very much. More...
Studying Theology at St Marks Theological School of Charles Sturt University [1995-2000] opened me up to developing my own, personal theology which was often at variance with the received tradition to which I belonged. One particular subject, Worship and the Arts encouraged exploring my belief through creativity. The work that I produce is a personal expression of my be-ing. My theology informs my work … and my art expresses my theology of creation. More...

Ralph Nelson:- Gardener,Artist,Poet/Songwriter,Paper Artisan. I grew up in Canberra during the 1960s feeling isolated and outcast from the rest of the people around me because I suffered from undiagnosed Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger's is a high functioning part of the Autism spectrumm disorders characterised by an inability or difficulty in communication, poor social skills, motor clumsiness, poor impulse control, limited interests and a liking for set routines or schedules. Another disability I have is red/green colour blindness which means that I can only see the primary colours properly, if they are mixed I can't tell what colour it is unless it's written on the tube or bottle. Hi, my pseudonym is Dr. Possum, I am an artist who works with computer generated art both in 3D and 2D, and writing for children. My original training was at the Canberra School of Art where I studied Textiles and did some paintings. I have autism (nothing to be feared) and this allows me to concentrate and work very methodically with my artwork, sometimes pixel by pixel to create amazing images. This body of work is a result of my housing experience, I lived in a one bedroom flat for nearly 15 years and over the past 4 years was victimised by other tenants. Thankfully I have been moved to a beautiful new house. Anyway, my therapist suggested I write a short story to help my recovery and this is what I have come up with, 3 posters which fold up into books in a decorated box. The story is to help children conquer nightmares, eradicate fear and master their dreams. More...
